While we exist to modify, alter, and improve Nerf blasters, the SJ Nerf Club has a few rules for everyone’s safety when it comes to what modifications we allow during wars, HvZ, or other club-sponsored games. During any sponsored activity, the following rules are strictly observed:
- If your blaster is painted or recolored in any way, you must still have a visible orange tip on the muzzle.
- No homemade or modified ammunition – all ammo used must be commercially produced and unaltered, except for cosmetic mods designed to aid in identification or ownership (name in sharpie, band of tape, etc.)
- Blasters cannot propel any projectile faster than 150 feet/second. Using standard Elite Nerf Darts, this comes out to slightly over 1 joule of energy, which is the limit of breaking skin at point-blank range. As a point of comparison, unmodified Nerf Rival ball-shooting blasters are around 90 feet/second.
- No homemade or external air sources may be used (CO2 canisters, airsoft magazines, etc.)
- If any metal parts are added to a blaster, they must be covered by plastic or padded in some way so no metal parts are exposed to the outside.
